India should take a firm stand on the Gaza issue: Chief Minister MK Stalin
As the toll in Gaza had reached 65000 and still counting, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Thursday expressed solidarity with the Palestinians and demanded that India, giving up its silence on the continuing horror, should speak firmly to put an end to Israel’s military operation in the tiny stretch.
“I am shaken beyond words by what is unfolding in #Gaza. Every visual is gut wrenching. The cries of infants, the sight of starving children, the bombing of hospitals, and declaration of genocide by the UN Commission of Inquiry together show the suffering that no human being should ever be subjected to,” he wrote on ‘X’, expressing deep anguish.
Silence is no more an option, he said and urged the Union Government to be proactive. “When innocent lives are being crushed in this way, silence is not an option. Every conscience must rise. India must speak firmly, the world must unite, and we must all act to end this horror now. #StopGazaGenocideNow #Palestine” read the post further, tagging a report of an international media organisation on the situation in Gaza.
With the DMK having a captive vote-bank among the minorities, claiming to be their protective shield, and the genocide having an echo of the disastrous 2009 ethnic war in neighbouring Sri Lanka resulting in a human catastrophe, Stalin has extended solidarity with Palestine.
