India records less than 50,000 fresh cases after 91 days
India recorded under 50,000 new Covid cases in 91 days, with 42,640 new cases. The death count climbed to 3,89,302 with 1,167 fresh fatalities. The record low cases were reported on a day when India vaccinated a record 86.16 lakh people.
With the fresh Covid cases, the country’s tally of cases has climbed to 2.99 crore, as per Union Health Ministry. The number of active cases is now 6.62 lakh, less than seven lakh after 79 days.
Maharashtra, the worst-hit state, on Monday reported 6,270 new COVID-19 cases, taking the state’s tally to 59.79 lakh. 21 cases of the Delta Plus Covid variant, the mutant version of the Delta variant, have been found in Maharashtra so far, state Health Minister Rajesh Tope said.
Tamilnadu recorded 7,427 more new cases on Monday, including three imported from Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. This takes the tally to 24,29,924.
