India Automation Challenge 2023
India Automation Challenge 2023 welcomes budding engineers of India to design and build automation systems with practical applications.
Industrial Automation, India’s leading monthly publication on discrete manufacturing and process automation, is holding the India Automation Challenge 2023 (IAC 2023) for engineering students to showcase their skills and compete for cash prizes up to Rs 1,00,000. The initiative aims to inspire young minds, provide exposure to real-world automation challenges, and create a talent pool of practical solution-oriented professionals. Industrial Automation is published by Mumbai-based IED Communications Ltd, and the company is also organiser of the iconic Automation Expo series of annual exhibition and conference programme.
IAC 2023 with IEEE Bombay Section as Technology Partner, is mentored by eminent professionals from the automation industry that include names like: Dr B R Mehta, Former Sr VP, Reliance Industries and Member, Board of Governors and Chairman, Steering Committee, for Automation Expo; and Prof Dattatray S Sawant, ISA Maharashtra Student Section Liaison and Student Activities Chair, IEEE Bombay Section.
Over 100 entries were received for the IAC 2023. These are all very interesting projects that demonstrate keen student interest in contemporary developments in light of emerging technologies. These projects include themes like:

The entries were adjudged by an eminent panel of experts comprising Dr V P Raman, Engineering Consultant and Former VP – Operations, TECTON Engineering and Construction LLC; Mr Niranjan Bhise, Entrepreneur and Owner, N B Engineers and Controls; and Ms Darshana Thakkar, MSME Transformation Specialist and Founder, Transformation – The Strategy HUB.

Winners will be declared and felicitated at a grand ceremony on August 25, 2023, during Automation Expo 2023 scheduled at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai from August 23-26, 2023. The prize distribution ceremony is sponsored by Axis Solutions Pvt Ltd and Delta Electronics. Outstation finalists have been granted Travel and Accommodation Sponsorship, and 6 sqm booths at the Automation Expo 2023, running from August 23-26, at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, to pitch their ideas.
“We are overwhelmed by the response received to the maiden India Automation Challenge and the quality of projects submitted. Going forward, this would become a regular annual feature held concurrently with Automation Expo. The idea is to ignite a spark of innovation and creativity among final engineering students and prepare them for the opportunities that are awaiting them at the Expo, where over 600 exhibitors are constantly looking at hiring young talent for various roles in the Industrial Automation industry,” said Ms Benedicta Chettiar, Director, IED Communications Ltd.
