IMD forecasts moderate to heavy rain in Tamil Nadu today
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had forecast moderate to heavy rainfall in parts of Tamil Nadu, including the Nilgiris and Coimbatore districts, and has warned of potential waterlogging and slippery roads.
The Southwest Monsoon has been active, with Avalanchi in Nilgiris recording 14 cm of rain on June 15th.
Schools in certain taluks of Nilgiris district and all schools in Valparai taluk (Coimbatore district) are closed today due to the rains.
Nilgiris District Collector Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru declared a holiday for schools in Ooty (Udhagamandalam), Kundah, Gudalur, and Pandalur taluks.
Similarly, Coimbatore District Collector Pavankumar G Giriyappanavar announced the closure of all schools in Valparai taluk as a precautionary measure.
