I wanted to play the role of Nagarjuna’s role: Rajinikanth
At a pre-release event for the film Coolie, Rajinikanth revealed that his favorite role in the movie is not his own character, Deva, but rather the character of Simon, played by Nagarjuna.
Rajinikanth mentioned that he initially expressed a desire to play the stylish role of Simon himself, but was happy when director Lokesh Kanagaraj told him that Nagarjuna had agreed to take on the character.
He also praised Nagarjuna’s performance, predicting that the character of Simon will be as memorable as his iconic characters Baasha and Antony.
The film features a star-studded cast, including Rajinikanth in the lead role of Deva, a former coolie with a mysterious past.
The movie also stars Nagarjuna Akkineni as the stylish villain Simon, along with Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and Shruti Haasan in key roles. Aamir Khan is also set to make a special cameo appearance.
The film has been given an ‘A’ certificate and is slated to be released on 14 August
