I want to play a transgender: Rajinikanth

Superstar Rajinikanth made a revelation on Monday night, at the trailer launch function of his upcoming film Darbar in Mumbai.

Answering to questions after the trailer launch, he said that he wishes to work in a Marathi film. When asked what kind of role he wants to in future or the genre he would explore which he hasn’t, Rajinikanth revealed that he would like to play a character of transgender.

When the actor was asked to comment ongoing protest against the citizenship amendment bill at the Jamia Millia Islamia University. The actor decided not to say anything and added its a film event. He added that he expresses his views on matters in different ways.

The trailer for Rajinikanth’s Darbar, directed by AR Murugadoss, was released on Monday. The film stars Nayanthara as the female lead and has Rajinikanth playing a police officer after 25 years.

The trailer begins with Rajinikanth’s character Aadithya Arunachalam, Commissioner of Mumbai, beating up some people and telling his officers, “Police is not a job, we live to protect, we die to serve”.

Darbar will simultaneously release in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi for Pongal 2020. Looking at the one-minute long trailer, Darbar seems like a perfect commercial out that celebrates Rajinikanth.

Throughout the trailer, Rajinikanth appears as a cop named Aaditya Arunasalam who is ruthless and in the end, he says, ‘I’m a bad cop.’ Also, he appears in another role where he is clad in dapper suits, which is believed to be his second role in the film.
