Since late last night, there were rumours about the health condition of DMK president and former Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi.
With rumours suggesting that his health has suddenly become serious and doctors are attending to him, his son and party’s working president M K Stalin today denied them and said he is fine.
“After tracheostomy was changed last week, he is suffering from fever. But he is stable and fine,” Stalin said.
Karunanidhi was admitted to Kauvery Hospital in Chennai on Wednesday morning. A statement from the hospital said Karunanidhi has been admitted so his tracheostomy tube can be changed.
“He will be discharged later today after recovering from this procedure,” said the statement signed by Dr. Aravindan Selvaraj, executive director, Kauvery Hospital.
The DMK chief was admitted in December 2016 to undergo a tracheostomy procedure to optimise breathing. The procedure was necessitated by the fact that he had breathing difficulty caused by a throat and lung infection.
Doctors said the procedure helped him overcome breathing difficulties caused by a throat and lung infection.
