History sheeter hacked to death by gang

A 26-year-old history sheeter, who went underground fearing threats from his rivals, was hacked to death when he was visiting his family at Vysarpadi on Tuesday.

According to the police, Manikandan alias Appu, a resident of Sanjay Nagar, Vyasarpadi, had a long-standing feud with Sebastian, another painter of the same locality.

On Tuesday morning, when Manikandan was proceeding on his two-wheeler in Sanjay Nagar, a gang led by Sebastian waylaid him and hacked him to death.

He tried to escape from their clutches but collapsed and died on the spot. MKB Nagar police reached the spot and sent the body government Stanley hospital for postmortem.

The MKB Nagar police have registered a case and are on the lookout for Sebastian and his brother, Soundar.

Appu reportedly had a rivalry with Sebastian and Soundar. Sebastian, who was in jail in connection with a murder case was released on bail last week.

Appu and Sebastian had had a tussle three days ago in Perambur, and escaped soon after police reached the spot, it is learnt.
