Hindi is not being imposed in Tamil Nadu: Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan

Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan on Sunday urged the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) not to politicize the three-language policy introduced by the Central government under the National Education Policy (NEP).

Speaking to the media in Coimbatore, Radhakrishnan expressed concern over the declining interest in learning Tamil in the state. He stated that the NEP encourages education in one’s mother tongue and allows students to choose a third language of their preference. “DMK should leave the decision to the students instead of turning it into a political issue,” he said.

Radhakrishnan further argued that the NEP could help promote Tamil language beyond Tamil Nadu. “If students in Bihar wish to learn Tamil, the policy allows it. There is no imposition of Hindi in Tamil Nadu, but everything here is being politicized unnecessarily,” he added.

On Delimitation and DMK’s Stand
Addressing concerns over the proposed delimitation of Lok Sabha constituencies, Radhakrishnan pointed out that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had already clarified that the number of parliamentary seats in Tamil Nadu would not be reduced. He accused the DMK of politicizing non-issues and stirring unnecessary protests.
