The Meterological office has written to the Tamil Nadu government, stating that rainfall would occur in the state in the next few days.
In a letter to chief secretary and other officials, S Balachandran director, Area Cyclone Warning Centre of the Regional Meteorological Centre has issued the warning.
“Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea from 30th evening onwards and those who are already in the sea are advised to return to the coast,” he said.
“The wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph likely along and off Tamil Nadu / Puducherry coast during 1st and 2nd December 2016,” he added.
Yesterday’s well marked low pressure area is persisting over South East Bay and adjoining equatorial Indian ocean, Balachandran said.
“The system is likely to concentrate into a depression during next 24 hours. The system is most likely to come closer to north Tamil Nadu / Puducherry coast around 1 December,” he said.
