The Madras High Court on Thursday sent notice to Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa and election commission officials over the validity of her victory in the May assembly election.
Justice M Duraisamy, before whom the election petition filed by Parveena of R K Nagar came up for hearing on Thursday, issued notices to Election Commission officials and Jayalalithaa. They shall file their response by September 16, he said.
Appearing before Justice Duraiswamy in person, she alleged that the constituency’s Returning Officer had not even permitted her to go for campaigning, including using vehicles for the purpose.
She claimed that the vehicles used by her were detained at “gunpoint” by police. Members of the political party Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) had alleged of poor quality indelible ink at RK Nagar constituency on the polling day
