“Haraa” Tamil Movie Review

Mohan’s acting is unable to save a weak story.!!

Actor Mohan, celebrated as a “Silver Jubilee Hero” in the 80s and early 90s, makes a triumphant return to the silver screen after 14 years with “Haraa.” Does the film meet the high expectations and mark a successful comeback for Mohan? Let’s find out.

“Haraa” opens with a heartwarming depiction of Ram (Mohan), his wife Nila (Anumol), and their beloved daughter Nimisha (Swathi) living a blissful life in Ooty. Ram’s deep devotion to his daughter is evident, making the news of her tragic suicide in Coimbatore all the more devastating. Determined to uncover the truth behind Nimisha’s death, Ram assumes the alias Dawood Ibrahim and embarks on a mission to find those responsible.

As Ram delves into the investigation, he uncovers a web of corruption, including a medical mafia and a forced prostitution ring, exposing powerful figures in the government and police. His relentless pursuit of justice highlights his unwavering love for his daughter and his determination to cleanse society of its wrongdoers.

Mohan’s portrayal of Ram is a refreshing departure from his earlier roles, showcasing his versatility as an actor. His age-appropriate character in “Haraa” allows him to demonstrate a range of emotions, from profound grief to righteous anger, all while maintaining a youthful and fit appearance. Mohan delivers a performance that resonates with the audience, drawing them into Ram’s quest for justice.

The film’s fast-paced narrative keeps viewers engaged, with Ram consistently staying one step ahead of his adversaries. The dynamic screenplay, combined with an evocative soundtrack, adds depth to the unfolding drama. Although some elements, like the add-on backstory of a suspended cop (Jayakumar) and a comedic court scene featuring Yogi Babu, may seem superfluous, they provide moments of levity in an otherwise intense story.

In summary, “Haraa” showcases Mohan’s successful transition into an action-oriented role, demonstrating his enduring talent and adaptability. The film’s exploration of love, justice, and societal issues makes it a compelling watch, marking a memorable comeback for Mohan.
