GV Prakash’s Happy Raj to stream on OTT from 24 April

Actor-composer GV Prakash Kumar’s latest outing Happy Raj is all set to make its digital debut. Following its theatrical run and the customary waiting period, the film will begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video from April 24.

Directed by debutant Maria Raja Elanchezian, the film attempts to blend humour with emotional beats, positioning itself as a light-hearted entertainer with a social undercurrent. Alongside GV Prakash, the film stars Sri Gouri Priya as the female lead, while seasoned performer George Maryan plays a pivotal role.

One of the talking points around the film has been the return of Abbas, who steps back into Tamil cinema after a long hiatus. His presence adds a layer of nostalgia for audiences familiar with his earlier work, making Happy Raj an interesting mix of old and new.

The film originally hit theatres on March 27, where it opened to a divided response. While some praised its attempt to balance comedy with a socially relevant narrative, others found its tonal shifts uneven.

With its OTT release, Happy Raj now has the opportunity to find a wider audience and perhaps a warmer reception.
