Guess how many people auditioned to dub for Rajini?
Believe it or not, a whopping number of 200 persons were auditioned to dub for Superstar Rajinikanth for the Malay version of his upcoming film Kabali.
“The makers were looking for an apt voice to suit the unique voice of Rajini. More than 200 people were auditioned, for over 15 days. The Kabali Da dialogue from the teaser was given to the artistes to perform. Arun, who has been a huge fan of Rajini since childhood, was able to perform the given dialogue with ease and was selected,” sources said.
Malik Streams Productions and Distribution, a Malaysian media company has dubbed the film. The Malay version of the teaser was also uploaded on their social networking page.
Kabali is written and directed by Pa. Ranjith. Principal photography for the film began on 21 August 2015 in Chennai, while filming mostly occurred in Malaysia as well as Bangkok and Hong Kong.
Working with Ranjith would make Kabali Rajinikanth’s first film with a novel director for the first time since his collaboration with S. Shankar in Sivaji (2007).
In an interview, producer S. Thanu revealed that Rajinikanth had personally asked him to produce the Ranjith-directed film. The producer’s commercially successful Bairavi (1978) was Rajinikanth’s first lead role film and the two had not collaborated since.
It was speculated that Rajinikanth’s role would be based on a real-life mob boss from Chennai. Santhosh Narayanan is the music director, while cinematography is by G Murali.
