Natchathira Vizha took off to a colourful start at National Stadium in Bukit Jalil in Malaysia. Celebrities from Kollywood walked the red carpet.
Tamil cinema stars have descended on Malaysia ahead of the ‘Star Night’ or Natchathira Vizha, a fundraiser event organised by Nadgiar Sangam. More than 100 celebrities, including Superstar Rajinikanth and Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan, have arrived in the Kuala Lumpur, where the star-studded event is began on Saturday.
Rajinikanth was seen at the inaugural function with ‘The Legend Saravana Stores’ boss Saravanan, who was the title sponsor for the event.
The first such grand ‘Star Night’ was organised in 2002 in Malaysia and Singapore by the Nadigar Sangam, under the leadership of actor Vijayakanth. The event was held to raise funds to clear the debts of the actors’ association, which was in the range of Rs 2 crore at the time.
And now, it is being held to raise funds to construct a building for Nadigar Sangam at T Nagar in Chennai.
Malaysian Prime Minister Najeeb Razak had come to Chennai last year and met Rajini at the actor’s Poes Garden residence. And on Friday, Rajini met him in Malaysia.
