A day after Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) relieved former Congress and TMC MLA C Gnanasekaran as its vice-president, he called on chief minister and AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa in Chennai today and enrolled himself in the party.
Vasan, who got wind of Gnanasekaran’s moves, issued a statement relieving Gnanasekaran and another Vellore district secretary Srinivasa Gandhi from their respective posts.
Gnanasekaran has for long been the face of the Congress and TMC in Vellore having been elected to the Assembly twice each on the Congress and TMC tickets.
He was among those who had joined the TMC floated by the late G.K. Moopanar in 1996 and also walked out of the Congress when Mr. Vasan revived the TMC two years ago.
Speaking to reporters after joining the AIADMK, he lashed out at Vasan and said he (Vasan) has been running the party like a private company. “His relatives are taking decisions,” Gnanasekaran said.
