Global honour for Pooja Devariya

Actress Pooja Devariya of Mayakkam Enna, Iraivi, Kuttrame Thandanai and Aandavan Kattalai fame has got a rare Hollywood honour.

Pooja  has been awarded the ‘Emerging Artists Award’ at the Short and Sweet Theatre Festival’s Hollywood edition in Los Angeles, the largest short theatre festival in the world.

At present, she is eagerly waiting for her next upcoming film Vallavanuku Vallavan, which has national award winning actor Bobby Simha in the lead.

After making her film debut with Selvaraghavan’s Mayakkam Enna (2011), she worked extensively in theatre with the Stray Factory, before returning to films in 2015.

In 2010, Pooja joined the theatre group Stray Factory and has worked on stage performances and online videos with the company.

During the production of the theatre show, Dirty Dancing, she was spotted by Gitanjali Selvaraghavan who recommended her to her husband, and the actress appeared in his Mayakkam Enna (2011) portraying Padmini, a friend in Dhanush’s gang.
