The speculations that Gautham Menon and Kamal Haasan are teaming up for the sequel of Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu have turned out to be true. Recently, the actor-directed confirmed that he has narrated the script of the sequel to Kamal Haasan.
In an interview to The Hindu, the director confirmed that he has initiated talks with Kamal Haasan for the second part of Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu.
Reportedly, Gautham Menon has narrated a script to Kamal Haasan and the latter seems quite thrilled about the film. He told the daily, “We’re keeping it a bit quiet. I have to narrate one more time to Kamal sir and am hoping things fall in place by April.”
The director has already narrated the outline of the script to Haasan and soon, they will meet again in April. If Kamal likes the script, the sequel of one of the blockbuster cop action thrillers in Tamil cinema will start rolling this year.
It is said that Vels Films International is initiating the project and they have arranged a meeting between Kamal Haasan and Gautham Menon.
The original came out in 2006 and turned out to be a blockbuster. Kamal played the role of DCP Raghavan, who hunts down two psychopathic serial killers. Even after 14 years, the character Raghavan is still in the memories of Tamil cinema fans and it is also part of Tamil pop culture.
Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu was a huge success and Kamal Haasan’s introduction scene remains one of the most talked-about sequences of all time. Gautham Menon dropped hints that he has written a similar sequence for Kamal Haasan in Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu 2.
