Police rescued a software engineer hailing from Telangana hours after he was kidnapped for ransom in Kelambakkam. The abductors had demanded Rs 1 crore from his parents to release him. Four men involved in the kidnapping have been arrested.
Premkumar who was working with HCL Technologies branch Thazambur, at Kancheepuram was kidnapped on July 28. He used to live in a rented flat with his friends.
Prem Kumar, an employee of HCL Technologies at Navalur, left work at 2 pm on Thursday and requested a motorist for a lift. A man on a bike offered him a lift. When the techie got on the pillion, another man ran towards the bike and sat behind him and they sped away.
Before Kumar could shout for help, the second pillion rider used a handkerchief laced with sedatives to cover his face. He swooned and was then taken away in a car, police said.
