From today, all shops and commercial establishments in Tamil Nadu will be allowed to operate until 10 pm.
All shops, restaurants and commercial complexes in Tamil Nadu would be allowed to function till 10 pm from today in view of the coming festive season and to facilitate further economic recovery.
Barring shops located in full containment zones, all others could function up to 10 pm by following the Standard Operating Procedure to prevent the spread ofCOVID-19, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami said in an official release on Wednesday.
He said this decision was taken keeping in mind the upcoming festival season and the need to put the economy back on the growth path, besides the prevailing pandemic situation.
He said at a time when the spread of pandemic was coming down during the last few days, people were advised not to assemble in large numbers in shops and public places and wear face masks, maintain six ft social distancing, wash their hands regularly to prevent the virus spread.
Shops are presently allowed to remain open till 9 pm. Considering the upcoming festival season, and the necessity of facilitating further economic recovery, “vegetable shops, groceries, restaurants, and all shops including tea stalls and commercial complexes are permitted to function till 10 pm from October 22,” the Chief Minister said.
