PMK chief Ramadoss has urged the Tamil Nadu government to immediately fill the vacancies of vice chancellor in three important varsities in the State.
In a statement, he said the post of vice-chancellor was lying vacant in the universities of Madras and Madurai Kamarajar besides Anna University in Chennai.
“Higher education in the state is in the danger of being paralysed. At a time when the state’s rulers are priding themselves on a report that TN ranks the highest in student admissions, higher education is in a mess”. He added: “This is primarily because the posts of vice chancellors in three top universities have been left vacant”, he said.
“The VC of Madras University, Thandavan and Madurai Kamaraj University Kalyani Madhivanan retired on 10 January and 9 April 2015 respectively. Similarly, Anna University’s VC Rajaram’s term got over last June”, he said.
