EPS to meet Modi, Amit Shah in Delhi

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami will be travelling to New Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah on December 19.

During the meeting, Palaniswami will be inviting the duo for the inauguration of the Amma Memorial constructed in the memory of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

Also, Palaniswami is also expected to hand over a memorandum with various other requests including seeking funds for various schemes to be implemented in the State.

In June this year, Palaniswami met Modi at his residence in New Delhi and discussed State specific projects. Palaniswami also handed over a memorandum on various development projects to the Prime Minister.

In a memorandum submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister sought the support for – Nandanthaai Vaazhi Cauvery and its tributaries on the lines of Ganga restoration and rejuvenation, besides Rs 17,600 crore worth improvements and rehabilation of irrigation systems in the Cauvery basin.

According to an official release, the Chief Minister later visited Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and Water Resources Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and discussed state projects related to the respective ministries. Mekedatu dam issue was among the subjects that came up for discussion with Shekhawat.
