Ensure basic facilities in schools, HC tells TN govt

The Madras High Court has granted two more months to the School Education Secretary to inspect the Corporation Schools in the City and to file a report on their working conditions.

The First Bench of Chief Justice S.K. Kaul and Justice R. Mahadevan passed the interim orders on a public interest litigation (PIL) moved by V. Karthikeyan, Chennai district secretary of the Revolutionary Student Youth Front.

The PIL sought a direction to the government to implement a Government Order dated December 22, 2012, which stipulated providing basic facilities to government, government aided and private schools in the city and appointing a perennial committee to monitor its implementation.
