Eleventh Kalasagar Award function postponed

Fear over the spread of coronavirus has already disrupted the public life globally
continues to spread around the world, fears are rising that the disease will disrupt the
general life, Government of India insist that all public events and social gathering needs
to be put on hold till further notice. In view of the above we at Kalasagar wish to inform
all that the Eleventh Kalasagar awards for exemplary contribution in the field of traditional
performing art forms to be presented on May 28 when the 96th birth anniversary of
Kalamandalam Krishnankutty Poduval, legendary kathakali mastero and founder of
Kalasagar stands postponed till further notice.
Kalasagar awards are given in honour of the artistes in the field of Kathakali – Vesham,
Music, Chenda, Maddalam and Chutty as well as Bharathanatyam, Mohiniyattom,
Kuchipudi, Ottenthullal, Chakyarkoothu, Koodiyattom, Thayambaka, and Panchavadyam
— Thimila, Maddalam, Edakka, Thalam and Kombu. The awardees will be selected
through nominations received from art conosseiures. The minimum criteria for

nomination is that the artistes should be between the ages of 40 and 70, should be well-
known performers, gurus, and a permanent resident of Kerala. Nominations with
