Educationist Leo Muthu remembered, 1300 students given education aid

The first death anniversary of educationist Leo Muthu was observed with a purpose at Sri Sairam Engineering College, Chennai. On the occasion, 1300 students were given things needed for education.

They spent the whole day by playing and indulging in activities inside the sprawling campus of the college and were provided with food and other things.

Also, foundation stone for a statue of Leo Muthu was laid. CEO of Sairam Group Saiprakash Leomuthu, his mother wife Kalaiselvi Leomuthu, sister Sharmila Raja, Jaya group of educational institutions chairman A Kanakaraj, RMK group chief R S Munirathnam, A P J Abdul Kalam’s former advisor Ponraj and others were present.

Last year, the commemoration ceremony of Leo Muthu was held at the Sri Leo Muthu Indoor Sports Stadium of Sri Sairam Engineering College, it may be recalled.

During the event, Dravidar Kazhagam president K Veeramani, unveiled the portrait of Leo Muthu and appreciated his efforts for the cause of good education.

Former Union minister T R Baalu, in his speech, highlighted the indomitable spirit of the late Leo Muthu and his tireless service to society in different spheres.
