DVAC conducts searches in properties belonging to former Minister Thangamani

The Department of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) carried out raids at properties belonging to former All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) minister Thangamani and his relatives.

An FIR was filed against former minister Thangamani, his son Dharanirajan and his wife Shanthi under the Prevention of Corruption Act Sections 13(2), 13 (1)(e), 109, 13 (2), 12, 13, (1), (b).

Thangamani was the Minister of Electricity and Prohibition and Excise Department from 2016 to 2021. He is the fifth AIADMK minister to come under DVAC radar.

An 18-member DVAC team entered Thangamani’s residence at Govindampalayam near Kumarapalayam in Namakkal district at 6.45 am.

Searches began on 69 premises in Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka in the morning. In Tamil Nadu, searches were happening in Chennai (14 places), Vellore, Salem, Karur, Namakkal, Tirupur and Coimbatore districts. Searches were happening in one place in Karnataka and two places in Andhra Pradesh.
