Duraimurugan hospitalised, discharged

Senior DMK leader and former Tamil Nadu Minister Duraimurugan was today admitted to Apollo Hospital after he swooned at the Chennai airport on Sunday.

“It was to due to a fall in his blood pressure. He was admitted to a private hospital. He is okay now,” DMK spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP T K S Elangovan said.

After treatment, doctors discharged Duraimurugan on Sunday itself. “I am ok now. I have been discharged. I have come home,” the DMK leader said.

Duraimurugan, who is also the Deputy leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly, came to the airport to board a flight to Tiruchy.

He was heading to Tiruchy to campaign for the party’s candidate in the Aravakurichi constituency, which is facing assembly poll along with Thirupparankundram and Thanjavur on November 19. Suddenly, he fell unconscious following which he was rushed to Apollo hospitals for treatment.

The 78-year-old leader was engaged in hectic campaign for three Assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu, where polls will be held on November 19.
