Dreaded gangster Vikas Dubey killed in encounter

Dreaded gangster Vikas Dubey was killed in an encounter after a road accident today morning while being taken to Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh from Madhya Pradesh, where he was arrested yesterday.

Vikas Dubey’s wife Richa Dubey was arrested from her Krishna Nagar residence on Thursday evening by a team of the Special Task Force (STF) on charges of harbouring the gangster and conniving with him, police sources said. The gangster’s son and a servant were also arrested, reports said.

One of the vehicles of the convoy of UP Special Task Force that was bringing back Vikas Dubey from Ujjain to Kanpur overturned, it is said.

The accident happened at around 7am. There are reports that Vikas has been injured along with an STF sub inspector and two constables who were accompanying him in the vehicle. However, an official confirmation is awaited.

Vikas Dubey snatched the pistol of one of the Special Task Force men escorting him and tried to run but was surrounded, said the police.

“Four policemen were injured in the accident today. Vikas Dubey has been killed in police encounter,” said Mohit Agarwal, Inspector General, Kanpur.

Visuals after the incident showed Vikas Dubey being taken away on a stretcher. He was declared dead in hospital.
