Director Kasthuri Raja has reacted to a Madurai court issuing summon to his son and actor Dhanush in a case filed by an elderly couple claiming that the national award winning artiste is their son.
“Film industry people and media friends know me for the past forty years. They all know that Dhanush is my son. Those who studied with Dhanush are there. I am saddened to see such a news,” he said.
A judicial magistrate court at Melur in Madurai on Friday ordered Tamil actor Dhanush to appear before it on January 12 next year in connection with a petition filed by an aged couple who claim that he is their son.
Stating that their ‘son’ had refused to take care of them after making it big in the film industry, the couple demanded a monthly assistance of at least Rs 65,000 from Dhanush as they were not in a position to sustain themselves.
R Kathiresan (65) and his wife K Meenakshi (53), residents of Melur, claimed in their petition that Dhanush was their elder son born at Government Rajaji Hospital on November 7, 1985. They named him ‘Kalaichelvan’, they claimed.
He did his schooling up to standard X at R C Higher Secondary School and Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Melur. After that he was admitted for standard XI in a private school in Tiruppathur in Sivaganga district.
But he discontinued his education and went to work in the film industry, in which he joined hands with Kasthuri Raja. Despite various attempts, the couple could not meet the national-award winning actor, said the petitioners.
