Dhanush feels thankful to Amitabh

Dhanush has expressed gratitude to Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan on their film Shamitabh completing five years of its release.

Posting a photo from his 2015 Hindi film, Dhanush said, “5 years of Shamitabh .. thank you Amitabh Bachchan ji, PC Sreeram sir and R Balki for giving me this gem.”

Cinematographer P C Sreeram wrote: “It looks like yesterday. Many loved it. Many critics had their point of view. Balki brought the best out of Dhanush & Akshara Hassan. Audience loved their performance. Balki’s tribute to Amitabh Bachchan’s voice which has mesmerised all over the years.”

Shhamitabh is a 2015 Indian satirical drama film written and directed by R Balki. The film features Amitabh Bachchan, Dhanush and debutante Akshara Haasan, in her debut, in the lead roles.

The film is jointly produced by Sunil Lulla, Balki, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, R K Damani, Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan under their respective production banners. Ilaiyaraaja composed the soundtrack album and background score, while cinematography was handled by P C Sreeram.

In August 2013, reports announced that Dhanush would play the lead role in Balki’s next film. But Balki denied them as rumors, citing that they may have arisen when he had shot for an advertisement featuring.

In November 2013, Bachchan and Dhanush were announced as feature in the lead roles. The film also marked the acting debut of Kamal Haasan’s second daughter, Akshara Haasan.
