Delhi DMDK secretary joins AIADMK, Chandrakumar ‘assaulted’: New Delhi state secretary of Vijayakanth-led DMDK, V N Dhakshinamoorthy, on Friday joined the AIADMK in the presence of party supremo and Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa.

A statement from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam headquarters said that Dhakshinamoorthy met Jayalalithaa and enrolled himself in the party. He also received the membership card from her.

Meanwhile, a district functionary of Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam reportedly assaulted Makkal DMDK leader V.C. Chandrakumar on Friday. However, the latter refuted reports that he was assaulted.

Chandrakumar was in Vellore for a consultative meeting of Makkal DMDK, a breakaway group of the party, at Asiriyar Illam, when G. Manikandan,deputy secretary of the district Captain Mandram, reportedly slapped him while leaving the meeting venue at 1.30 p.m.

In the meantime, DMDK Chennai west district secretary A M Kamaraj, who was expelled from the party on Thursday, has come down heavily on Vijayakanth.
