Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK joint coordinator Edappadi K Palaniswami today said a decision on alliance will be taken only during the time of elections (which are due in 2021).
When reporters asked about claims made by some BJP leaders that their party would lead the alliance, the CM said, “Only during the time of elections, alliance and its head would be decided.”
Except the final semester, other examinations for undergraduate and postgraduate students are cancelled in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, Palaniswami said.
Accepting the request of students considering their welfare and as per the recommendations of a high level committee, the decision has been taken, Palaniswami said.
The Chief Minister said he has directed the Higher Education Department to issue a detailed Government Order on the matter.
UG students in their first and second year pursuing polytechnic, arts and science and those in first, second and third year of their engineering courses were exempted from writing their semester exams and allowed to move on to the next academic year by Palaniswami on July 23.
Palaniswami has been asked to do away with the scheduled total lockdown on August 30 (Sunday), on Onam’s eve. A consumer forum has requested CM Palaniswami that total lockdown on Sunday will cause hardships to people celebrating Onam festival the next day.
The Empower Centre for Consumer and environmental Education, Research and Advocacy has made an appeal that Onam is widely celebrated all across the state.
