Dance Master Robert Plays An Angry Young Man in ‘Sevala Kaala’
Wings Pictures presents its new production Sevala Kaala, starring Dance Master Robert in the lead role. Set against the rustic and intense backdrop of Madurai, the film is shaping up as a rooted, action-driven entertainer that draws heavily from the region’s culture and temperament.
The film is written, scripted, and directed by Paul Sathish, who makes his filmmaking debut with Sevala Kaala. Like filmmakers who carved their path through short films, most notably Lokesh Kanagaraj and many other successful directors, Paul Sathish too has developed his craft independently by directing short films before stepping into full-length cinema.
Sevala Kaala marks his first major directorial venture. The film’s shooting commenced with a traditional pooja ceremony in Melur, Madurai.
The story revolves around a fearless protagonist who never hesitates to punish wrongdoing, no matter who commits it. The hero lives in a village near Madurai, where his elder brother is publicly humiliated by a powerful and wealthy local strongman who controls the entire village. Unable to tolerate this injustice, the younger brother steps into the battlefield. What follows are gripping and engaging sequences that form the core of the film’s narrative.
The female lead arrives in the village from outside the region. Initially frightened by the hero’s rough and aggressive nature, she gradually begins to understand his true character and eventually falls in love with him. Resistance arises against this relationship, leading to further conflict. Does the hero succeed in breaking the villain’s schemes? Does he triumph in love? These questions unfold through a screenplay that blends action, romance, comedy, and sentiment, crafted and directed by debutant filmmaker Paul Satheesh.
In the film, Dance Master Robert essays the role of a rugged and aggressive protagonist. Aaryan plays the elder brother, Sampath Ram appears as the influential village tycoon, and Meenakshi Jaiswal plays the female lead.
