Daily Covid-19 cases reported in the country dipped marginally but remained over 90,000 even as deaths from the infection continued to surge. As many 1,225 fatalities were recorded during the past 24 hours, the third highest single-day count so far, taking the overall toll past 85,000.
The total case tally stands at 53,08,015 including 10,13,964 active cases, 42,08,432 cured/discharged/migrated & 85,619 deaths, said Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

The home ministry, meanwhile, has said that medical oxygen is an essential public health commodity and any disruption in its supplies may critically impact management of Covid-19 patients as it stressed that “no restriction” be imposed on its movement between the states.
It also clarified that there are no restrictions on oxygen manufacturers and suppliers to limit the supply only to the hospitals of the state in which they are located.
According to the Central government, the coronavirus case fatality rate due to the infection has dropped to 1.62 per cent.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Health Ashwini Choubey has said that a coronavirus vaccine is likely to be available by the end of first quarter of 2021 if the advanced clinical trials of the vaccine succeed. Stay tuned for LIVE news updates on coronavirus.
