Total coronavirus cases in India have touched 4,202,562, while the country has witnessed 71, 687 people dying after getting Covid-19 infection, according to info provided Worldometer this morning.

More than 27 million people across the globe have contracted COVID-19, while 8,83,846 patients have already succumbed to the disease. As the world inches closer to the last quarter of 2020, people across the globe are waiting with bated breath for a coronavirus vaccine to come into public circulation and contain the spread of this highly infectious contagion.

Meanwhile, a woman was infected with the coronavirus after recovering from an initial bout in July in what doctors claimed to be the first case showing that re-infection may occur within a few months.

The 27-year-old woman from Bengaluru has tested positive again nearly a month after she was treated and discharged from hospital, Fortis Hospital confirmed on Sunday. This is the first confirmed case of COVID-19 reinfection in Bengaluru, the Fortis Hospital said.

Bengaluru has reported its first case of coronavirus reinfection – a 27-year-old woman who had first tested positive in July and was discharged upon full recovery from a mild form of the disease. Tests conducted on the patient, who did not have any co-morbidities, show she did not develop any immunity towards the novel coronavirus, a statement from Fortis Hospital said.

“This is possibly the first reported case of Covid reinfection in Bangalore,” Dr Pratik Patil, an Infectious Diseases Consultant at Fortis Hospital’s Bannerghatta Road facility said, explaining how the woman developed the disease a second time within a month’s time.
