The Madras High Court today issued notice to actor Kamal Haasan seeking reply on petition filed by producers Pyramid Saimira seeking to stop release of Vishwaroopam 2.
When the petition came up for hearing today, Justice C V Karthikeyan issued notice seeking reply from Kamal Haasan and adjouned the case to Monday.
Pyramid Saimira, represented by its director P S Swaminathan, approached the Madras High Court to restrain the release of Vishwaroopam 2.
The production company claimed that the actor owed it Rs 7.75 crore and the money could not be collected from him if the movie was allowed to be released.
Pyramid said it had entered into a memorandum of understanding with Rajkamal Films International, in which the actor is a partner, in 2008 for jointly producing a movie titled Marmayogi and paid Kamal and but he failed to repay.
On Thursday, a police complaint was lodged against Kamal Haasan and his show Bigg Boss 2 for portraying former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalithaa as a dictator.
The complainant alleged that Kamal Haasan tried to defame the former CM during his reality show. The complainant reportedly states that, while performing a particular task, Kamal said, “You know what happened to the dictators that ruled the state”.
