Coronavirus: Kamal wants to convert his house as hospital; stays away from daughters & others

Actor, filmmaker and Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) founder Kamal Haasan has said that he was planning to convert the building that used to be his house into a medical facility.

He said in a tweet, “At this crucial time, I am willing to convert my former house into a temporary hospital. The doctors in Makkal Needhi Maiam are ready to serve the patients also if government permits.”

The Viswaroopam actor, who is currently busy with Indian 2, added: “In this time of crisis, I am trying to help the people, to bring the people in the justice system, the building that was my home, to temporarily help the people.”

Kamal had earlier also brought out two short videos to create awareness about COVID-19 and appealed to people to practise social distancing, as well as other necessary precautions.

Meanwhile, Kamal’s eldest daughter Shruti Haasan has revealed that due to the coronavirus outbreak, her family has self-isolated. She revealed that her father and veteran actor Kamal Haasan, and her sister Akshara are currently in Chennai, but they are staying in separate houses, while her mother Sarika is staying in a different house in Mumbai.

“My entire family has self-isolated. Mum is in Mumbai as well but in another apartment. Dad and Akshara are in Chennai but in separate houses. All of us had different travelling schedules and it didn’t make sense for us to isolate together. That’s the decision I feel people should make,” she said in an interview.

In a tweet, she said, “Hope everyone’s ok ? I’m learning a lot about myself and im super glad I’m someone who enjoys my own company so much… it’s good to use this time to introspect and ease into ourselves in silence. stay home, stay positive take care and sending everyone lots of love and light.”
