Corona screening intensified at TN-Kerala border

The screening of passengers for COVID in the districts bordering Kerala has been intensified over the past few days.

Officials claim that workers, students and other daily passengers remain unaware of the protocols or refrain from adhering to it.

The officials from the Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine said additional healthcare personnel had been deployed at check posts along Walayar in Palakkad and other border districts to ensure the implementation of the e-pass order.

The officials said there was a hesitancy on part of routine commuters to register for e-pass. The surveillance has been stepped up following an increase in COVID cases in Kerala. Meanwhile, Tamilnadu reported 685 new cases and 5 deaths on Thursday.
