Responding to actress Khushbu Sundar’s resignation from the party, TNCC president K S Alagiri said that she did not act according to the party’s propaganda.
“Parry cadres saw her just as an actor and not as a leader. Her resignation is in no way a loss to the party,” he added.
Khushbu on Monday quit the Congress and is all set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the 2021 Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.
The Congress removed her from the position of All India Congress Committee spokesperson with “immediate effect”, after she submitted her resignation letter to party chief Sonia Gandhi.
Khushbu, in her resignation letter, thanked Sonia for the opportunity given to her to serve the nation as the national spokesperson of the party.
“I, after a long thorough thought process over a period of time, have decided to end my association with the party,” she said in the letter and tendered her resignation from the primary membership of the Congress.
On Sunday, as she took off to Delhi, she refused to comment. To a specific question if she’s still in the Congress, Khushbu Sundar said, “I don’t wish to say anything”. With the Congress out of power since 2014, her political career graph was flagging.
