Cockroach Janta Party appoints three spokespersons ahead of June 6 protest

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a social media-driven movement that has recently gained significant public attention, has announced the appointment of three spokespersons as it prepares for a protest in the national capital on June 6.

Investigative journalist Saurav Das has been named the group’s chief spokesperson, while political researcher and filmmaker Vijeta Dahiya and public policy professional Ashutosh Ranka will serve as spokespersons. The appointments were announced during the movement’s first formal media interaction in New Delhi.

The move is being viewed as an effort by the organisation to establish a more structured leadership framework as it expands beyond its online presence. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke is expected to return to India ahead of the planned demonstration at Jantar Mantar.

The group has been campaigning on issues related to alleged irregularities in national examinations and has called for accountability in the education sector. Its upcoming protest is expected to focus on concerns surrounding examination management and paper leak controversies.

According to information released by the organisation, Das brings experience in reporting on legal, judicial and social issues. Dahiya is known for his work as a political researcher, author and filmmaker, while Ranka has an academic and professional background spanning engineering, public policy and consulting.

The appointments come amid growing visibility for the movement on social media and shortly after support was expressed by activist and educator Sonam Wangchuk. CJP leaders have maintained that the organisation is not aligned with any political party and describes itself as a citizens’ movement focused on public issues.

The June 6 protest is expected to be the group’s first major public mobilisation since its emergence as an online campaign and may indicate whether it can translate digital support into on-ground participation.
