CM Stalin, Palaniswami hail Periyar on his birth anniversary 

Tamil Nadu commemorates the 147th birth anniversary of social reformer Periyar E. V. Ramasamy, with tributes pouring in from various political leaders and public figures. Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, Leader of Opposition Edappadi K. Palaniswami, and DMK MP Kanimozhi were among those who honored Periyar’s contributions to social justice and rationalism.
Chief Minister Stalin shared an AI-generated video of Periyar on social media, accompanied by a message highlighting Periyar’s role as a beacon of rationalism and social justice. He emphasized that Periyar’s legacy continues to inspire the fight against caste discrimination and for women’s rights. Stalin’s post read, “Thanthai Periyar – the blazing fire that eradicates casteism! The beacon of rationalism for Tamil society! Thanthai Periyar will always remain – everywhere!”
Edappadi K. Palaniswami, in his tribute, acknowledged Periyar’s relentless efforts towards establishing an egalitarian society. He praised Periyar for sowing the seeds of rationalism and for his unwavering commitment to social justice, stating, “He questioned and sowed rationalism! He stirred emotions and fought for rights! He worked tirelessly for an egalitarian society, regardless of age! He proclaimed that no one is inferior to anyone else! That’s why he is our Periyar!”
Kanimozhi, MP and daughter of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, also paid homage to Periyar. She highlighted his role in challenging social inequalities and promoting women’s empowerment, reiterating the importance of his teachings in contemporary society.
