Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami who has embarked on his election campaign tour has announced that nearly 10lakh cases that were filed during the covid lockdown period will be withdrawn.
He made the announcement during his campaign at Tenkasi district. He said that most of the cases were registered during the vehicle inspection of for spreading rumours.
Palaniswami also said that the cases that were filed during the anti-CAA protest will also be withdrawn.
He however added that the government will not withdraw cases which involves violent activities and cases where E-passes were used in fraudulent ways.
Palaniswami further said that the government will also consider on withdrawing cases against the people who protested against the Kudankulam nuclear power project.
Meanwhile, the Tamilnadu government has also permitted the usage of air conditioners in private and state run buses. Buses have been allowed to use AC almost after 11 months. The Ac bus services were stopped in the State from 25 March last year due to the lockdown. Normal bus services resumed from September, however permission was not granted for operating A/C buses.
The state government has issue SOP for the operation of AC buses and it is stated that the temperature in the buses should be maintained between 24-30 degree celsius and the relative humidity should be around 40-70 per cent.
Today, the Chief Minister announced reduction in Metro Rail fares in Chennai.
