Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Tuesday inaugurated several projects in Chennai commissioned by the Municipal Administration and Water Supply department.
A multilevel vehicle parking facility which was constructed at a cost of Rs 40.79 crore at T Nagar and Thanikachalam Road junction was inaugurated.
The fully automated facility has two basements, ground floor and six floors.
Sources said that 222 four wheelers and about 500 two wheelers can be parked at the facility. It is said that Rs 20 will be charged for four wheelers for one hour and Rs five for two wheelers.
Apart from this Palaniswami also launched the Namma Chennai Smart City prepaid card which can be used to pay taxes and bills at the Greater Chennai Corporation.
A wet waste processing plant constructed at a cost of Rs 9.33 crore was opened at Chetpet as part of the decentralised waster management project.
It is said that this plant can process 50 tonnes of waste everyday. Teh facility was constructed by demolishing the existing central asphalt plant.
A 50 tonne capacity incineration plant for dry solid waster was also launched at Kodungaiyur.
Contract to the tune of Rs 1,216 crore to handle solid waste managaments in 48 wards
was also handed over by Palaniswami.
