A class XII student of a government school at Kodambakkam in Chennai was assaulted with a knife by a group of other students in a clash on Wednesday.
Wednesday saw two students of Ganapathy Government Higher Secondary School at Kodambakkam, engage in a bloody fight. The scuffle that began during the lunch break, resulted in a group of five students stabbing another with a sharp object.
The injured student has told media that a few students in the school were taking drugs and had been demanding money from him. Since he refused to part money on Wednesday, he was attacked.
Following the incident, the parents of the student who was assaulted grievously, filed a complaint at the Kodambakkam police station, and a case has been registered. Meanwhile, the district chief educational officer Anitha is also conducting an inquiry in this regard.
Speaking to media, the school headmaster Rajasekaran, “Already we suspended two students for three days for the Friday incident (the clash between two groups of students on Kodambakkam High road). For this incident, we have inquired ten students and we will take proper steps.”
A probe is underway as to why the fight occurred, and who were involved in attacking the victim.
