Greater Chennai city Police have launched a new online citizen service–Police Verification Services dispensing with the present system of visiting the police station for verification.
It was launched by Police Commissioner A K Viswanathan in the presence of State Crime Records Bureau Additional Director Seema Agarwal, who is his wife.
She said the aim of the new service would be to verify the identity of the person, his/her current address and to check if he/she has any prior criminal cases in the police records.
“This service is applicable only for verifying persons who are residing in Tamil Nadu. The police verification will be completed within 15 days from the date the application is received. This service completely dispenses with the need for the applicants to visit a police station,” she added.
Viswanathan said, “The aim of the police verification services is to verify the identity of a person, his/her current address and to check if he/she is involved in any criminal case as per records available with Tamil Nadu police.
