Chennai Metro Rail launches feeder services at 2 more stations

Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL) has undertaken several initiatives to provide several Last Mile Connectivity measures for the Metro Passengers.

In this connection, CMRL had also tied up with Bengaluru Mega cabs Private Limited for providing Feeder Services in 10 operational Metro Stations namely Nandhanam, AGDMS, Thousand Lights, LIC, Government Estate, Chennai Central,
Washermanpet Metro and Airport Metro, Shenoy Nagar, Nanganallur Road Metro Stations through an app based system developed by Ford Mobility.

In addition to the above existing metro cab services, CMRL has also introduced additional metro cab services in Arumbakkam Metro Station and Nehru Park Metro Station
from today (27-09-2019).

The feeder operation route covers a distance of 6-8 km from each of the stations at a flat rate of Rs. 10/-. The ticketing collection system for this service is also integrated with Chennai Metro Smart Card system and Chennai Metro Rail mobile app system.

The services will be also be extended to Saidapet, Kilpauk, Anna Nagar Tower Stations shortly, said a statement from Chennai Metro Rail Ltd.

Recently, it was revealed that a total of 1,91,44,307 passengers have travelled from January 2019 till August 2019 in Chennai Metro Rail, setting a new record.

In the month of August 2019, a total of 29, 65,307 passengers have travelled in the Metro Train proving that the efforts taken by CMRL to provide a safer and time efficient way of travel a success, a release said.

In the month of August 2019, more than 1 Lakh passengers travel in the Metro train for a total of 19 days. And on the following days a total of 1,30,288 passengers have travelled on 30th Aug 2019 , 1,15,477 passengers have travelled on 14th Aug 2019 , 1,14,399 passengers have travelled on 9 th Aug 2019 and 1,12,984 passengers have travelled on 28th Aug 2019, it added.
