A head constable of Tamil Nadu police was stabbed to death and a sub inspector and a constable seriously injured when they were attacked by a gang of chain snatchers in Hosur.
Head constable Munusamy (45), attached to the Hosur Town Police Station, sub-inspector Nagaraj and another policeman were part of a police team that had traced the suspects linked to a chain-snatching incident.
During the search operation, crime branch team were informed about the presence of snatchers in a village. The team went to the village and when they tried to nab them, the perpetrators attacked the police team with knives. All of the three police men were stabbed.

Munusamy is survived by his wife and two children. His daughter, who recently finished her schooling, secured 1,187 marks in her board exams and wants to pursue medicine, police said. He was laid to rest at his native village near Veppanahalli.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased. District Superintendent of Police Gangadhar said that they were investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, the police managed to trace one of the attackers Bujji and detained him on Wednesday night. However, on Thursday, they confirmed that the suspect had died in their custody after he suffered a heart attack.
