A central team deputed to assess the damage caused by Cyclone Gaja in Tamil Nadu Saturday held discussions with Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami in Chennai.
They met the Chief Minister and key officials from the State today to get before-hand information about the crucial places to visit to understand the cyclone-destruction better.
Earlier today, they interacted with Tamilnadu Revenue Administration, Disaster Management and Mitigation Department Principal Secretary / Commissioner K Satyagopal and Commissioner of Disaster Management Rajendra Ratnoo at a star hotel in the city.
Later, they also met Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanthan, Minister D Jayakumar, C V Shanmugan, R B Udhayakumar and many other officials at the Secretariat and got to know more about the situation prevailing in the cyclone-hit places.
While five members of the team had arrived from Delhi on Friday, two others who are stationed here, have joined them.
The officials belong to various central departments such as Finance, Power and Agriculture. The team is expected to complete its assessment in three days starting with a visit to Tiruchirapalli.
