CBI arrests 3 including AIADMK man in Pollachi sexual assault case

Three more persons have been arrested in connection with the Pollachi sexual assault case which came to light in February 2019.Among the three arrested, one member is alleged to be AIADMK member.

On 24 February 2019, a young woman complained to the police that four men had tried to disrobe her in a car and filmed the assault.

There was a video that showed the woman, 19 at the time of the incident, screaming and resisting her attackers. The four men – Sabari Rajan, Sathish, Vasanthakumar and Thirunavukarasu were arrested.
Sources said that last month, the Coimbatore Mahila Court granted permission to the CBI to examine the voice samples of the five accused in the case.

The CBI sought permission from the court to analyse the voices of the men heard in a few video clips related to the case to check whether they match the voices of the arrested persons.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the heinous act was an organised crime and the accused persons made videos of the victims and later blackmailed them, sources added.

Meanwhile, Arulanandham who has arrested for his connection in the case has been removed from the party. His expulsion from the party was announced by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam.
