The ruling AIADMK and the main opposition DMK will today take important decisions in the Cauvery row.
According to sources, chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and deputy CM O Panneerselvam will take a collective decision with the approval of ministers.
It is to be noted that the deadline to set up Cauvery River Water Management Board, set by the supreme court, came to an end on Thursday.
On the otherhand, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) will hold an executive council meeting over the Cauvery issue today in Chennai.
The DMK has been pressing the Centre to constitute the Cauvery Management Board (CMB).
Meanwhile, Union minister of state for finance and shipping, Pon Radhakrishnan, said he is ready to quit from his post if resignations would pave way for the setting up of Cauvery River Water Management Board.
In settling the long-standing Cauvery dispute among the states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry, the apex court had reduced Tamil Nadu’s share in the Cauvery water to 177.25 thousand million cubic feet, and directed the Centre to set up the board.
